    ISNetworld® vs Avetta® vs Veriforce®: a contractor's comparison

You need the platform your hiring client requires. You don't choose it. Each platform has a sign-up path for contractors sent by a hiring client [2][6][12]. If your customers use different platforms, plan on an account with each of them. All three collect your safety, insurance and training information, review it against your client's requirements, and charge the contractor a fee [1][6][12]. The differences are in how they review you, how they set price, and what training tools come with the account.

    Who uses each platform?

ISN® says 900 companies use ISNetworld® to manage information for 90,000 contractors and suppliers "in more than 85 countries around the world" [3]. Its hiring client directory can be filtered by industries including Energy Upstream, Energy Midstream, Energy Refining, Food & Beverage, Construction, Manufacturing, and Utilities, Distribution & Power Generation [3].

Avetta® lists 500 hiring clients, 1.5 million workers and 120 countries on its About page [9]. It says it is "Trusted by over 360,000 businesses across more than 120 countries" [6]. Avetta® describes its role as "powering intelligent work readiness across industries" [9].

Veriforce® reports 3,200 hiring clients and "140,000+ contractors" in "140+ countries" [11]. The industries it lists include Oil and Gas, Utilities, Chemicals, Construction, Manufacturing, Mining, Renewable Energy and Municipalities [11].

Each platform counts its network its own way, so these numbers do not compare directly.

How does each one prequalify you?

ISNetworld®. ISN® lets contractors "submit information for multiple Hiring Clients at once" [1]. That information, "such as safety statistics, written programs, and training documentation," can be submitted "on a company, project, site, and employee level" [1]. The ISN® Review and Verification Services (RAVS) team reviews documents "against regulatory and Hiring Client requirements" [1]. Those documents include "insurance certificates, written programs, training documentation, and other documents as required by connected Hiring Clients" [1].

Avetta®. Avetta® lays out four steps: sign up, submit required information "such as safety documentation, questionnaires, and insurance," review, and get to work [6]. At the review step, "Avetta reviews your information against your client's requirements" [6]. For insurance, you can upload policy documents or "allow your agent to upload on your behalf" [8]. Avetta® says its specialists "carefully review your health, safety, sustainability and policy documents to ensure they meet regulatory requirements and client standards" [8].

Veriforce®. Veriforce® contractor subscriptions include a "Digital standardized questionnaire" [12]. Contractors upload "training records, safety programs, JSAs, MSAs, insurance certificates, and more" [12]. On the hiring client side, Veriforce® says "Our team will work with them to verify documentation, ensure compliance with your requirements, and deliver relevant orientations and training" [15].

On every platform, the hiring client sets the bar. ISN®, for example, says "Hiring Client requirements can be configured by location, level of risk, or specific designations" [16].

How does each one charge contractors?

None of the three publishes a dollar amount on its public pages. Each describes how its price is built.

ISNetworld®. "ISNetworld subscription pricing is all-inclusive. All subscribers pay an annual fee plus a one-time account setup fee." [1] Fees "are based on the number of people in the company workforce and the countries in which the company operates" [1]. The setup fee is charged "per country," and "Employee count is based on the three-year average" [2]. ISN® says the price holds "regardless of the number of tools your company uses or the number of Hiring Clients or contractors and suppliers to which your company is connected" [2].

Avetta®. "Program pricing depends on the type of work you perform and your client's specific requirements." [6] "During registration, Avetta provides a personalized quote so you can clearly see the cost before you move forward." [6] "Supplier plans are based on the number of connections, project or trade risk level." [7] "A client-connected plan is required for work with clients." [7] The client-connected tiers are Standard, Plus and Advanced, and Plus adds "Insurance verification" and "Injury and illness verification" [7]. Avetta® also sells Vetify as a "Supplier Add-on" [7].

Veriforce®. "Different subscriptions are available depending on the region of work and the hiring clients you wish to work with. Subscription prices are tiered according to the number of employees." [12] The products are Compliance Pro (U.S. contractor management), ComplyWorks (global), VeriSource (U.S. operator qualification) and CHAS (U.K.) [12].

What happens when you fall short?

None of the platform pages we reviewed publishes a grading scale. What they describe is how gaps get surfaced.

ISN® says contractors can "quickly identify what is being requested, any gaps, and what needs to be improved" [1]. Contractors also get deadline updates and "email reminders" [1].

Avetta® says its task management lets suppliers "Centralize outstanding tasks and client requirements," enabling "quick identification of issues" [6]. Avetta® adds, "We provide insights into any identified gaps and assist your teams in understanding, addressing and closing them" [8].

Veriforce® says "Our team works directly with your company to ensure you meet all hiring client requirements and never miss an expiration date" [12]. Its hiring clients get a "Progress dashboard that shows which contractors are ready to work" [15]. For pipeline drug and alcohol reporting, "Should contractors fail to adhere to the requirements, their status will be designated as non-compliant within the VeriSource platform" [14].

Where do training and operator qualification fit?

ISNetworld® includes a Learning Management System with "more than 700 training courses" [1]. Its My Company Training tool lets contractors "build or upload company trainings and assign them to all workers by user type, skill, or site location" [4]. ISN® also lists an "ISN Roundtable: Operator Qualifications (OQ) Industry Leaders" event on its homepage [5].

Avetta® offers Avetta® University for "verifying worker training through a centralized learning platform" [6].

Veriforce® positions its OQ solution as "built for Pipeline Operators and Contractors" [13]. It reports serving "230+ Pipeline Operator clients and 12,000+ Contractor companies" [13]. Its eLearning library includes "165+ Common Covered Task courses aligned to ASME B31Q and API standards" [13]. The VeriSource subscription is "For contractors who fall under U.S. DOT regulations" [12].

Why might you need more than one?

Each platform shares your data across its own hiring clients. ISN® says contractors "submit information one time in ISNetworld that is viewable to all ISN Hiring Clients" [1]. Avetta® says you can "Upload documents once and share the information across multiple clients" [8]. Veriforce® says "The average Veriforce Contractor is connected to 4 Veriforce Hiring Clients" [17].

That sharing stays inside each platform. None of the pages we reviewed says an account on one platform satisfies a hiring client on another. Avetta® tells invited suppliers that "Completing registration is required to remain eligible and ready to work for them" [6]. So if one customer uses ISNetworld® and another uses Avetta®, you maintain both.

    Frequently asked questions

Can I use one platform for all my customers?
Only if all your customers use that platform. Each platform shares your information across its own hiring clients [1][8][17]. A customer on a different platform will still expect an account there [6].

Do I need a consultant to manage these?
No. Each platform runs its own support team for contractors [1][6][12]. Avetta® also sells Vetify, an optional service where "a dedicated expert helps you meet client-specific requirements" [10]. Outside help is a choice, not a requirement.

Is Veriforce® only for pipeline operator qualification?
No. Veriforce® also sells U.S. and global contractor management subscriptions and a U.K. subscription [12].
